If you are an international student, there is a lot more to weigh when making a major decision. You have to be more firm with your decisions. For example, transferring to another school will be very tough especially if your family is not exactly wealthy.

There is a lot more riding on the decision to study in the US.

Your family had made a big decision to send you off to the US to study. That very move is major in itself. You have chosen to be uprooted from the familiar to pursue a dream.

International students do not qualify for federal aid.

You have to be careful with decisions involving money because you do not qualify for loans. This means that shifting and transferring have to be considered only if you are sure either is necessary. If you are almost through with earning a degree, it may not be wise to suddenly shift or transfer. In the case of the latter, you are not sure if your subjects will be credited.

Studying arrangements are more complicated.

Everything seems more expensive for an international student, especially someone being financed by a family from a country whose currency value is smaller. You have to rent a place or stay in a dorm. If you are not living with family, you may have to depend on take-out. Again, this makes decisions involving money even more complicated.

If you are planning to study in the US, you have to have a more solid plan. Make sure you conduct a lot of research before proceeding because being an international student requires a lot of money.
