Back in high school, we were asked to attend the judgment of an Ivorian singer in my home country and immediately fell in love with the law.  After that, I saw myself getting involved with different political activities and raising my hands in class when discussing order, justice, and other social concerns.  I am very passionate about my beliefs and interests, which include sense of justice, goodness, and harmony that can be best achieved through law and order in our society.  I believe that I do not only have the skills required of a good lawyer but also the heart to become the best that I can be.  I believe that I can explore better opportunities by applying for the law program of ____ University, known best for its flexible programs that allow students to learn from first-hand experience.

Outline:

I.  Introduction

A.  The trial
i.  I was in fourth year high school when we went to view the trial of an Ivorian singer.
ii.  I discovered my love for law when I watched the judgment that day.
iii.  I became more politically active since them and would gladly discuss law, justice, and other social concerns in class.

B.  Applying for the law program
i.  I do not only have the skills but also the heart required to be a good lawyer.
ii. I want to be the best that I can be and explore better opportunities.
iii.  The ____ University has flexible programs that let students learn through experience.

II.  My academic background

A.  After I obtained my high school diploma, I applied to a local law school and got accepted.
B.  I also obtained a master’s degree in law from the same school in West Africa.

III.  My work experience

A.  I worked as a telephone operator at the United Nations Office.
B.  Previously, I held administrative and human resource positions in several companies.
C.  Given my work experience, I have a good background in foreign law and accounting.

III.  My dream

A.  I moved out of my home country in an attempt to achieve my goals. I even attended and completed an ESL course to improve my communication skills.
B.  I love politics and believe myself to be politically active. My background in law gives me great leverage in political debates.
C.  I am a reasonable person who is passionate about my interests. I am interested in learning more about the law in an environment that fosters critical thinking and solid reasoning.
