The public institution of Illinois State University was originally established in 1857. Illinois State University has a total of six colleges. These colleges are the College of Fine Arts, College of Education, College of Business, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Applied Science and Technology, and the Mennonite College of Nursing. The six colleges are comprised of 34 academic departments with a total of 67 undergraduate programs in over 188 fields of study, 39 master’s programs, two specialist programs, and eight doctoral programs.
