How to Fit into a College Easily on Your First Day

When visiting a campus, you should not just focus on getting to know the academics of the college. You should also know how you could fit into that college. This time around, you will not be walking around with your college admissions resume. You have been accepted – academically at least. But will you easily fit into the crowd?

Go on a guided tour.

If there is someone you know who could take you around on a guided tour then that would be perfect. Someone you know and trust should be able to introduce you to life in college. However, you may also elicit the help of some locals if you are thinking of touring the surrounding areas of the college.

Know the places beyond website information.

When the college admissions officers met you for interview, they know you better than they did when they read your personal statement essay. Now, it is time for you to return the favour. Know the college beyond the positive statements you have read in the brochure or website. Discover places that you have only read about before.

Be familiar with after-hours action.

Find out what the activities are around the campus area. What is night life like? Of course, you should not drink of you are younger than 21. However, there are other things that you could discover and experience, such as the library’s night hours, coffee shops, eateries, sports leagues and the cinema.

Wear comfy clothes while you are touring the campus. So, you can focus on what you see and not how achy your feet have become.
